What is Cell Therapy?

Regenerative medicine is a medical specialty that works to provide options for patients wanting to enhance their healing capabilities. Cell therapy falls under this category. It is a process in which living cellular material is injected into a patient to address the following:

  • Disease
  • Injury
  • Improve a patient's quality of life

Dr. Garcia has devoted almost three decades to improving patient’s lives through this innovative and highly researched area of medicine.

What Can Cell Therapy Treat?

Cell therapy is a very versatile treatment. It can be administered to young or old patients treating illnesses or injuries.Dr. Garcia provides cell therapy options to treat a variety of ailments, including:

  • Lung disease (including Asthma Degenerative Disease)
  • Spine disease
  • Arthritis
  • Joint problems
  • Neurological diseases (including Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's and ALS)
  • Auto-immune diseases

Dr. Garcia and his team can utilize cell therapy with plastic surgery patients as well, speeding up the recovery process.

How Does Cell Therapy Work?

At the Regenerative Medicine Institute of Nevada, Dr. Garcia and his team use what is called adipose-derived stem cell therapy. This method extracts stem cells from fat tissue. It is an easier way to obtain undifferentiated cells when compared to bone marrow procedures. Some studies have also shown that stem cells found in fat tissue are more abundant than those taken from bone marrow.

After the stem cells are collected from the patient under local anesthetic, the cells are processed and then re-injected into specific areas, depending on what the patient wants to treat. Extensive research shows that stem cells seek out damaged tissues within the body to repair it naturally.

Because of this, when the stem cells are administered back into the patient, they have the potential to repair and create new tissue, such as:

  • Cartilage
  • Bone
  • Ligaments
  • Tendons
  • Nerves
  • Fat
  • Muscles
  • Blood vessels
  • Certain internal organs

Many of the therapies offered through our practice begin with the patient's own cells. We can also use elements obtained by certified labs where tissues and cells are available for use. Our stem cell therapy process takes less than three hours during an in-office visit.

How Dr. Garcia Can Help

Dr. Garcia has expanded his cell therapy services to offer a wider array of treatment options to his patients, including:

  • Cytokine Therapy: utilizes intercellular regulatory proteins that play crucial roles in immune system and inflammatory responses. This therapy can be used to treat a wide range of infectious and autoimmune diseases, especially those whose immune systems are already compromised.
  • Growth Factor Therapy: utilizes growth factors, signals sent by different cells to stimulate the body's natural healing process, to treat wounds and inflammatory responses. This therapy can be applied topically.

Rather than just offering a palliative treatment, which is what traditional medicine frequently does, Dr. Garcia and his team at the Regenerative Medicine Institute of Nevada provide something unique. Our therapies work to enhance the natural healing mechanisms within your own body.

To fully determine if cell therapy is right for you, Dr. Garcia will meet with you in person to discuss your health care goals. Be aware that this treatment is not yet approved by the FDA, and all treatments are patient funded and done under experimental protocols.
